Mission Statement: Guardian Christian Academy partners with parents to provide their children with a distinctly biblical and academically excellent education that develops the body, mind, and soul, equipping students to become godly leaders and to successfully engage the culture for Christ.

The teachers of Guardian Christian Academy partner with parents to educate students.  Our certified teachers are committed to the development of strong minds and godly characters.  With an average class size of twelve students, each child is viewed as an individual with specific strengths and characteristics, and communication with parents is consistent and on-going.

Our primary textbook instruction comes from the A Beka publishing company.  It very successfully teaches reading through a phonetic approach.  Math skills are taught consistently and intentionally reviewed to maintain a high degree of retention.  A Beka is supplemented through additional resources at various levels.

A mixture of off and on-site experiences and activities serve a variety of purposes.  Among those are:  to introduce a concept, to act as a culminating activity, to provide hands-on learning, to apply knowledge to today’s world, to serve as a motivational tool, to provide experiences that students may not otherwise have.

Students at Guardian Christian Academy participate in the ACSI Virginia State Student Activities.  GCA has participated – and done well - in Math Olympics, Spelling Bees, Speech Bees, Creative Writing Festivals, Art Festivals, and Piano Festival.  Middle school students will enter the Science Fair on this level in the 2007/2008 school year.  All students participate in the Christmas Musical, Variety Show, and more.

Each spring GCA students take the Stanford 10 National Achievement tests.  The results are provided for the parents as well as for the school.  Through these achievement tests staff members are able to easily assess strengths and weaknesses and make adjustments on an individual level, grade level, and school-wide level.

In addition to the strong academic core, the elementary curriculum is supplemented with:

  • Physical education
  • The IES language program
  • Library
  • Music
  • Art
  • Computer lab and classroom computers
  • Age-appropriate chapel

Before and After School Care is available for kindergarten through fifth grade. Here students are provided with a structured time for homework, snacks, playtime, and other activities.  Before and after school care fees are discounted for families whose children are enrolled in the GCA graded school.

The middle school curriculum supplements its academic core with:

  • Physical education
  • Music
  • Exploratory classes in language and fine arts
  • Computer (built into certain core subjects)

Newsflash

We have been amazed with the interaction our child has had not only with his teacher but with other teachers in the school. It really is a sense of community and they know him.
