Summer Programs for Preschoolers & Kindergarten Through Fifth Grade

E-mail Print PDF

Summers at GCA are sizzling!
All thoughts turn to water fun, lazy days, and ICE CREAM!
LOTS OF ICE CREAM!

Preschoolers enjoy activities associated with a different theme each week. Because of safety concerns, 2 and 3 year old preschoolers are not taken on field trips off campus. There could be extra charges for some of the activities. Our rising Kindergarten students do travel off campus for a variety of field trips. The cost of the trip is due on the day of the event.

The Kindergarten through fifth grade group spends the first week of summer vacation on campus getting to know each other and learning the safety rules for activities on and off sight.

Then the traveling begins. This group goes on an outing at least three days a week.

Activities include, but are not limited to:

  • Swimming
  • Bowling
  • Putt Putt
  • Eagle cruises down the James
  • Canal walk and boat rides
  • Ice skating
  • Trips to the park
  • Metro Richmond Zoo
  • Moorefield Mines
  • Windy Hill Park

When the group is on campus board games, video games, movies, playground, and arts and crafts are available.

Taekwondo instruction, tutoring, and reading club are also available for a small fee.

While the program functions under the guidelines provided by the Virginia Department of Social Services,  GCA has opted to apply and receive a Religious Exemption Certificate instead of a license.

The cost for activities is in addition to the weekly summer childcare fee. Parents only pay for the activities that their children attend. If a child is present on the day of a scheduled activity, they are expected to participate.

Newsflash

If kindergarten were to start tomorrow – my daughter is ready and it's only a little over half way through the year now.  I’m so proud and excited that she comes to GCA.  I wouldn’t go anywhere else.
