Guardian Secondary (6th-12th Grade)

Academic Excellence

Our middle and high school teachers are committed to the development of strong minds and Godly character. Communication with parents is consistent and on-going, and our curriculum incorporates the Virginia SOL’s. Course instruction is designed to challenge students intellectually, promote a drive for excellence, and build each student’s level of personal responsibility.

In addition to the core academic subjects of English, Math, Science, History, and Bible students gain instruction in the areas of World Language, Technology, Fine Arts, Personal Finance, and Economics. In addition, our students have an opportunity to take a variety of elective courses.

GCA offers both Standard and Advanced Studies diploma tracts. The offering of honors level coursework and dual enrollment, challenge the more advanced students in their academic pursuits. Our seniors complete a Senior Thesis Project which provides each student the opportunity to enhance academic coursework in a personalized area of interest.

The secondary academic curriculum is supplemented with electives in areas such as:

  • Public Speaking/Communication
  • Culinary Arts
  • Photography
  • Graphic Design
  • Web Design
  • Sign Language
  • Song Writing
  • First Aid/CPR
  • Health & Physical Education

Field trips, chapels, small groups and community service projects round out the curriculum.

Character development, civic responsibility, and serving our community are all fostered in the secondary grades from a biblical perspective both in and out of the classroom.

Secondary students participate in ACSI Student Activities across the commonwealth, such as Math Olympics, Spelling Bees, Science Fairs, Creative Writing Festivals, Art Festivals, and Desktop Publishing.  Students may also participate in the Praise Team, the after school drama program, athletics, and a variety of other enrichment opportunities.

Best decision we made for our grandchild was to enroll him here. 3 years here so far and he is doing fabulous! Awesome teachers and staff that take interest in each child. The students truly care for each other (high school kids take interest in younger kids, etc.). Nothing but good things to say. We love GCA!!
